Do Filipinos need a visa to Vietnam?
Filipinos can actually enter Vietnam visa-free for short trips of up to 21 days¹. If your stay exceeds 21 days, you’ll need to apply for an eVisa for tourists or proper work or study visas.

For longer trips of 22 days or more, you’ll need to apply for an eVisa that will be valid for trips of up to 90 days. For students, there is the Study Visa (DH) which is valid for up to a year, and can be extended for the duration of the study program.
There is also a Work Visa for people who are moving to the Philippines for work for longer than three months, but typically, an additional document called the Work Permit is required, which must be applied for by the employer².

The eVisa process is incredibly simple, with no need for documents like a criminal record check or bank statements. All you need for it is a valid passport with at least six months of validity past the intended stay, a recent passport photo that’s been taken within the last six months and other basic information such as where you’re going to stay in Vietnam and your expected expenses.
Vietnam work visa requirements
Work visas in Vietnam are a little more complex. Due to the requirement for the Work Permit, most employers tend to handle the process for incoming foreign employees. Documents that you’ll most likely have to prepare are a health certificate, criminal record check, academic certificates, two 4cm x 6cm passport photos, notarised copies of a valid passport and more. Documents obtained in the Philippines must be notarised by the relevant bodies and translated into Vietnam before being submitted.
Once the Work Permit is obtained, the employer has to sponsor a Vietnam work visa application and apply for it before you can submit your own application form, passport, other documents and make payment before picking it up at the embassy or consulate.
